A new "Fashion Trend" with mix-matched socks
My children started a new fashion trend in their elementary school. I am very proud to say that my family started the mixed-matched socks extravaganza.
Is it because we were blessed in the fashion ways of the world, or have a fashion sense beyond their years? Do they have an incredibly keen sense of matching colors and recognizing fashion trends? Are they the new up and coming influencer trending a new style?
Making a political statement? Could it be that they were bringing attention to a special organization or fundraiser? Were they trying to save the starving people in other countries or bringing awareness to the need for a cure for that awful illness? If only!
Nope… in reality, we simply could never find 2 matching socks by the time we had to leave for school, for practice or for work. They were lost in the ever-disappearing black whole and abyss that we parents know as the laundry pile. Never to return.
I basically tricked my children…err.. I mean convinced my children that different colored socks were “a really cool idea”. I told them that it was an incredible way to express their creativity and express their personality. I convinced them that they could express their emotions and use the different colors as a personal outlet. Yeah…I was full of shit and they bought it hook-line and sinker. After all it was basically true, and no harm done.
That’s okay, it worked. It was actually really cute, and I loved how excited my children got to choose 2 colors. They walked out of our house proud of their mixed matched socks. They even bragged about them to their friends. Wouldn’t you know it, it caught on and other children joined in the multi-colored sock club.
I even had Mom’s texting me to say thank you for coming up with such a clever idea. Win Win!
